Information about the association
Turun ITF Taekwon-Do is a sports club founded in December 2016. Our goal is to provide opportunities to practice ITF Taekwon-Do in Turku and the surrounding region of Southwest Finland.
Turun ITF Taekwon-Do is a member club of the Finnish ITF Taekwon-Do Association (SITF).
The club’s code of conduct can be read in MyClub. By practicing in our club, you agree to follow these rules. Below, you can find the rules of Turun ITF Taekwon-Do ry as well as the privacy statement.
Note: The official language of this club is Finnish. This is why the actual rules are written in Finnish and can be read here. This translation can give an overview of the rules and the privacy statement but might include incorrect wording.
Rules of Turun ITF Taekwon-Do ry
1. Name, Domicile, and Area of Activity
The name of the association is Turun ITF Taekwon-Do. The domicile of the association is Turku, and its area of activity covers Turku and the rest of Southwest Finland.
2. Purpose and Activities of the Association
The purpose of the association is to promote Taekwon-Do instruction and practice in accordance with the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) within its area of activity. The association aims to make Taekwon-Do accessible according to each practitioner’s goals and abilities, while supporting their physical and mental development.
Participation in the association is open to everyone, regardless of age, religion, nationality, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, or wealth. The association does not tolerate discrimination based on the above or similar factors and is neutral in matters of religion and party politics.
To achieve its purpose, the association:
- Offers members and practitioners
- instructed and independent training
- beginners’ courses
- camps
- educational programs
- training materials
- information services
- competitions
- other activities promoting physical and mental fitness and well-being
- Maintains and promotes Taekwon-Do training opportunities by acquiring necessary facilities, equipment, and other resources
- Cooperates with authorities, associations, and other organizations

Strives to implement and promote socially and environmentally responsible practices
To support its activities, the association may:
Collect membership fees, accept donations and bequests, own movable and immovable property necessary for its operations, and
Raise funds by organizing events, collections, raffles, bingo games, courses and training, engaging in publishing or catering activities, selling products, applying for grants, and providing members and practitioners with equipment and apparel related to Taekwon-Do practice.
3. Members of the Association
A person who accepts the purpose and rules of the association may be admitted as an ordinary member. Supporting members may be individuals or legal entities wishing to support the association’s purpose and activities. Ordinary and supporting members are admitted by the board upon application.
A person may be invited as an honorary chairman or honorary member at the board’s proposal if they have significantly promoted and supported the association’s activities.
A member may resign from the association by notifying the board or its chairperson in writing, or by announcing it at a general meeting for recording in the meeting minutes.
4. Expulsion and Other Disciplinary Measures
The board may expel a member who fails to fulfill the obligations set out in the rules, neglects payments, acts against the purpose or basis of the association, or intentionally or through gross negligence causes more than minor damage to the association. Damage includes non-financial harm.
The board may also decide on temporary suspension from activities, loss of competition rights, warnings, or permanent expulsion if a member acts contrary to the ethical values of sport or the principles of fair play, violates the rules of Turun ITF Taekwon-Do ry, the Finnish or international ITF, or the values of ITF Taekwon-Do.
The board and head teacher decide on disciplinary measures on a case-by-case basis, following the rules and regulations of the relevant national federation.
Decisions on expulsion take effect immediately and are considered communicated five days after being sent to the member by email. Expelled members are not entitled to a refund of paid fees. Appeals can be submitted to the board within 14 days or to the sports justice committee as provided by law.
Members agree to follow the anti-doping rules confirmed by the Finnish Anti-Doping Agency (ADT) and those of the international federation and International Olympic Committee.
Violations and sanctions are determined according to the applicable anti-doping rules. Members may be liable for damages caused to the association, the national federation, and the international federation.
5. Membership Fees
The autumn meeting decides on the amount of joining and annual membership fees for ordinary and supporting members. Fees are not charged to honorary chairpersons or honorary members.
6. Board of the Association
The board, elected at the autumn meeting, manages the association. It consists of a president and 2–8 ordinary members, and 1–2 associate board members if needed. The term is one calendar year. The board elects a vice president, secretary, and treasurer from among its members. Key officials may also be chosen from outside the board. One person may cover multiple responsibilities if necessary.
The board meets at the president’s or vice president’s request, or if at least half the members demand it. Decisions require at least half the members present, including the president or vice president. Meetings may include remote participation if the board allows.
Votes are decided by absolute majority; ties are decided by the chair’s vote, except in elections, which are resolved by lot.
7. Head Teacher
The head teacher, appointed by the board, is responsible for martial-arts training. If no suitable teacher is available, the association may continue without one. The head teacher collaborates with the board on disciplinary matters unless they are personally involved.
8. Signing the Association’s Name
The association’s name is signed individually by the president, vice president, secretary, or treasurer. The board may authorize other members or officials to sign alone or jointly.
9. Financial Year and Audit
The financial year is the calendar year. Accounts and the annual report must be submitted to the auditor at least one month before the spring meeting. Written statements must be given at least two weeks before the spring meeting.
10. General Meetings
The association holds two general meetings annually: the spring meeting (Feb–Apr) and the autumn meeting (Sep–Nov). Extraordinary meetings are held if required by the board or if at least one tenth of voting members (1/10 of voting members) is demanding it in writing for a specific matter. Meetings must occur within 30 days of a request given to any board member.
Members aged 15+, honorary chairpersons, and honorary members have one vote each. Supporting members may attend and speak but cannot vote. Decisions are made by majority; ties are decided by the president’s vote, except in elections, which are resolved by lot.
General meetings decide on the association’s joining or leaving federations and other organizations.
11. Convening Meetings
The board must notify members of meetings at least 7 days in advance via official email.

Members wishing to submit items must notify the board in time to include them in the notice.
13. Amendments and Dissolution
Amendments and dissolution require a ¾ majority vote at a general meeting. Notices must mention amendments or dissolution. Upon dissolution, assets are used to promote the association’s purpose.

For officials (teachers, coaches, administrators), processing is based on legitimate interest—agreed collaboration.

6. Sources of Data

7. Data Disclosure
Information may be shared with SITF. Personal information is generally not disclosed to third parties, except for event registrations.
8. Transfer Outside EU/EEA
Data is not regularly transferred outside EU/EEA, except for event registrations if needed.
9. Security and Retention
Data is retained while membership is active or until resignation/expulsion.
Access is restricted and backups and physical security are applied.
10. Access and Correction
Members may review, correct, or request deletion of their data. Requests sent in writing or by email to contact in section 2.
11. Other Rights
Under GDPR, members may object, request restriction of processing, and file complaints with the supervisory authority.
